Hey Nebraska FCCLA! We are one month away from the 2020 State Leadership Conference! If you’re like me, you may be thinking about how this year went by so fast? How crazy is it that SLC is almost here!? Or you are thankful for another great year in FCCLA! Before we get caught up in the excitement and craziness of SLC, I think it’s important that we reflect on the incredible successes Nebraska FCCLA has had this year.
First of all, you have truly fueled our passion, Nebraska FCCLA. Throughout the year you have showed up time and time again. We had our largest attendance ever at Fall Leadership Workshop with just under 600 FCCLA members, officers, and chapter advisers. You were able to learn more about our incredible organization, receive training, and were challenged to get involved with new incentives like the “Your Three Musketeers” membership campaign and “ComYOUnity Service” award.
Our next accomplishment as a state organization took place at the National Fall Conference in Dallas, TX where all of you had an incredible performance in your Skill Demonstration Events. Not only did Nebraska FCCLA members represent our state association extremely well, but Nebraska was also well represented during the conference sessions. Nebraska FCCLA was proud to lead two National Fall Conference sessions! Irelynd Pearson and Conner Oberhauser led a session on managing stress. Members of the state officer team also led a session on how new FCCLA members can start writing their story in FCCLA. I think it’s safe to say that Nebraska made its presence known in Dallas, TX!
February was a very busy and exciting month on the local, state, and national levels for FCCLA! To get the month kicked off to a great start a few of your state officers watched Governor Pete Ricketts sign the proclamation declaring February as Career and Technical Education Month. Then during the second week in February we all celebrated arguably the best week of the year… FCCLA Week! It was great being able to see how each of your chapters celebrated the week by spreading the FCCLA spirit in your homes, schools, and communities. Maddie Wittstruck, National Vice President of Finance, represented our state extremely well as she celebrated FCCLA Week in New York City! On Wednesday during FCCLA Week, we celebrated your advisers at the FCSTN Legislative Workshop and interviewed candidates for the 2020-2021 State Officer Team. Finally, we ended February at the State Peer Education Conference. You learned more about the National Programs from our amazing State Peer Officers. It also was incredible to see how each of you has spread kindness across our great state and have truly lived like Lisa.
As we are fully immersed in State Leadership Conference season, I would like to thank each of you for making this an incredible year. Throughout this past year, you have not only impacted your communities, but you have had a huge impact on Nebraska. With that being said, get excited! We cannot wait to celebrate your accomplishments alongside you at the 2020 State Leadership Conference!
