Some say that it is a season of decay and death. Often people see it as the warning sign that winter is coming that the plant life is going dormant. For some people this can be very depressing. Now before we all get too down, we need to think about how fall brings in new life. Look at it like this, death brings new life. An example is the leaves. The leaves fall off, shed their gross, cracking, disgusting selves and grow back more beautiful and unique than ever before come spring. Like the cycle of leaves, fall is the start of a new school year, a new chance. It is time to shed all the things you don’t like about yourself, the way you act or bad qualities. Strip away the bad habits you have developed of not working to the best of your ability toward everything. It is sometimes necessary to change yourself for the better. It is a new opportunity to achieve the dream that was lost last year. Whatever it is you do if it’s a sport, acting, speech, quiz bowl, or FCCLA. Do it to the best of your ability. Find it in yourself, take personal responsibility, make it your own, and be passionate! Just because you didn’t make it last year, doesn’t mean you CAN’T make it ever.
Whatever your dream is you can do it! It is a new school year so it can be a new start. You have the power inside you to change; change yourself, change others and change society. You have a chance to prove everyone who doubts you wrong. This is a new chance for you but the question is, are you going make the most of it?
So if you are willing to make that change you have to do it to the best of your ability. Don’t take days off because you are not promised tomorrow. There is no telling if you’re going to get up again. What do you want to be remembered for? Whatever it is I hope you want to be known as a grinder. Someone who works and works at that one goal until they have it. They push and push, never to give up. They keep at it as long as they have breath.
So I end with this today: Newton’s first law, “An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion.” If you do not do anything at all there will be no reaction, no spark, NOTHING! A lot of people look at losing or not achieving something as failure. But there is one difference between winners and losers. The difference is that the winners get back up after they have lost and do it again and again, until they win. You cannot look at losing as a step backward but really when you lose you have just showed yourself how it will not work, so now you can try it another way. You can protect it.
It’s important to understand that you do not always get what you want. But you do get what you earn. Find out the reasons why you do what you do. Find something you have faith in and use that. Do not let the world influence you. Set your own standard to what is good enough and celebrate yourself when you have reached your goal. You have to decide your dreams and your goals. I can’t do that for you, neither can your mom and dad, your teachers, or coaches, just YOU can. Don’t let EASY be an option for you!! Lastly I don’t suggest you join the waiting list for success. All that will end up being is an endless wanting list that will never be finished, because there is always someone cutting in line, using a fast pass and taking it from you because of their pure want and work for it. Hope you enjoy Fall!
